Major Federal Construction Projects Approved in December 2025

The House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure has just authorized three significant federal construction projects that will move forward in 2026 and beyond:

FBI Headquarters Consolidation | Washington, DC | $844M

The Ronald Reagan Federal Office Building (1300 Pennsylvania Ave NW) will undergo major renovation to become the new consolidated FBI Headquarters, replacing the J. Edgar Hoover Building. Design begins in FY 2026, with this project consolidating existing FBI leases across the National Capital Region.

Ronald Reagan Building Repairs | Washington, DC | $36.2M

Critical infrastructure work to repair and replace the building's curtain wall systems and atrium skylight, ensuring the long-term integrity of this prominent federal facility.

U.S. Courthouse Annex | San Juan, Puerto Rico | $28.3M

Phase one funding approved for a new courthouse annex in Hato Rey, plus alterations to the Federico Degetau Federal Building and Clemente Ruiz Nazario U.S. Courthouse Complex. Design must comply with Judicial Conference courtroom sharing requirements and the U.S. Courts Design Guide.

All projects require GSA to maintain direct oversight authority without delegation to other agencies. These authorizations represent significant upcoming opportunities for federal contractors, construction firms, architectural services, and project management professionals.
